Skin conditions in pets are prevalent, but they can be treated! Contact us to book an appointment.
Beauty may only be skin deep, but your pet’s dermatological health plays a major part in their overall wellbeing. Issues related to their hair, skin and nails are some of the most common reasons why patients come to our clinic. With our help, your pet’s skin can stay as healthy as possible all throughout their lives. Call us at 807-939-2616 if you have any questions at all about your pet’s skin health.
After checkup and diagnosis, one of our veterinarians will be able to prescribe the appropriate treatment for your pet. They usually include one or a combination of topical creams, medicated shampoos, antibiotics, antihistamines, corticosteroids, acupuncture, laser therapy and more.
A good rule of thumb is anything that seems out of the ordinary for your pet. If you notice they are scratching their skin more, their fur has a different smell, there are lumps/rashes/bald patches appearing all of a sudden, then it is probably time for a checkup. It is always better to be overprotective when it comes to your pet’s health. Remember, skin flare-ups can also be a symptom of other underlying diseases so it’s important the vet takes a look right away.
We suggest dogs are given baths anywhere from once every 2 weeks to once every 3 months. Make sure to use shampoos, brushes and other tools made specifically for dogs. Cats, on the other hand, usually do a great job of cleaning themselves on their own. They really do not need baths, but if you like, they can be bathed once every 4 to 6 weeks.
