When should I spay or neuter my pet?

Ideally, pets should be spayed/neutered when they are 6 months old. This procedure should be done before they reach their mating or adolescent age.

What is the difference between spaying and neutering?

Spaying is the procedure on female pets. It involves surgically removing the ovaries and the uterus. Neutering is done on male pets and is the removal of both testes.

What are the health benefits of spaying and neutering?

In general, pets who have the procedures live longer and healthier lives. In female pets it prevents uterine infections, minimizes risk for ovarian and breast cancer, and improves their overall mood. In male pets, the procedure reduces the risk of prostate cancer, enlarged prostate glands and aggressive behaviours like roaming and spraying.
